STAYIN’ ALIVE, (Tribute to The Bee Gees)

Thursday, October 1, 2015 – 7:30pm

 

Stayin’ Alive, with the vocal match of Tony Mattina, lead vocals and guitar, Todd Sharman, lead and backing vocals, and George Manz, vocals and keyboard, creates a realistic sense of hearing and experiencing the brothers’ Gibb live in concert.  The show offers to the audience the songs and sights of a full Bee Gees play list, featuring well known songs such as “Night Fever”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “To Love Somebody”, and “Stayin Alive”.  The band features Michael Griffin on drums and percussion, Chris Mullen on bass guitar, and Smokin’ Joe Perees and Andy Wegerich on guitars.  This show is the largest production of its kind as a tribute to the Gee Bees, capturing the excitement of live performance in a way that will have you humming these tunes all the way home.  It will truly be a night to remember!  Don't miss this one!

THE ALLENTOWN BAND

The Allentown Band has been around almost 200 years with a goal – to preserve concert band music.  The membership consists of about 50 members, of which 40 will appear here in DuBois.  Ronald Demkee has been their Conductor since 1977.  The members have varied backgrounds, from music teachers in high schools and college and many hold a variety of business positions in various walks of life.  The Band performs about 40 yearly performances that range from concert stage, to ballparks, commencements, Church picnics, Symphony Halls to Carnegie Hall.  Because of the influence of John Philip Sousa back in the day, the “Sousa style” continues today as an integral part of the present day Band.  The Band has performed on numerous TV programs, has done four European Concert tours, and to date, has released 28 CD’s.  A most impressive resume for a most impressive evening you won’t want to miss.  The Band will honor November’s historical dates, including Thanksgiving, and present a Christmas program in the second half of the concert.

KARL SCULLY, SOLOIST (above)

 Karl Scully was born in Ireland.  For six years, he was a member of the famous group, The Irish Tenors.  As soloist, Karl has performed in hundred’s of venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre New York, and Wolftrap Mainstage, Virginia here in the US.  He has performed in many operas, including Don Jos in “Carmen”, Pinkerton in “Madame Butterfly”, and the Duke in “Rigoletto”.
